At your initial consultation with our naturopath, a medical history will be taken and your health concerns will be discussed in detail. To gain a good picture of your overall health, and to maximise the benefits of your appointment, we ask that you prepare some information to bring with you.
What to bring to your appointment
A recent blood test
Preferably, bring a test that’s less than 6 months old and which includes:
- Fasting blood glucose
- Iron studies
- Vitamin D
- Vitamin B12
- Folate studies
- Serum chemistry
- Lipid studies
- Liver function
- Kidney function
- Gromerular Filtration Rate (GFR)
- Thyroid panel
- Complete Blood Count (CBC)
This is a routine test which can be ordered by your GP, just write down the list above and give to your GP. It generally takes a few days for results to come through, and there is no charge if you have a current Medicare.
Other test results
If you have test results which are specific to your condition or concern, please bring these to your appointment.
Supplements and medications
Please write down or photograph any medications or supplements you are currently taking.
Food and drink
For 5 days prior to your first consultation, we ask that you take photos of your typical meals and snacks. Pictures are preferable to a written food diary as they give an idea of portion sizes, cooking methods and ingredients to your naturopath at a glance. Remember your consultation is a judgment-free zone, so don’t change your diet just to impress! In order to help you, it’s important for us to understand what your typical daily diet looks like.
Follow up consultations
Once a health protocol has been established at your first consultation, we will recommend a return or follow up consultation for a few weeks later. Follow up consultations are where we monitor your health progress and make adjustments to your plan if necessary. Any new health concerns or difficulties in following your plan will also be discussed.
